Welcome to the Yorkley Village website

Where is Yorkley?

Yorkley is situated approximately 2½ miles North of Lydney and just under 8 miles South of Cinderford on the Southern edge of the glorious Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, with a population of about 1160.

The village sits astride a hill some 600 feet above sea level, giving panoramic views of  the  mighty River Severn and the Cotswold Hills to the  South-East, South & South-West  from one side, and the hills of the Brecon Beacons above Abergavenny to the East, some 28 miles in the distance.

To the north the village is bounded by forest, and to the south by agricultural land.

A view to the East from the Bailey Hill showing Oldcroft & Sharpness over the River Severn.
