Following complaints of flooding around the main road at
Yorkley Slade, Gloucestershire Highways and their contractors carried out
some investigation and clearance of underground channels before Christmas,
with more work to come when weather permits.
Considerable obstruction and blockage was found &
cleared, or is in process of being cleared.
The contractor used a remotely controlled video camera
mounted on a small self-powered trolley, and the resulting picture was
viewed and enabled a a powerful water jet to cut through obstructions where
needed.
It is hoped that this work will greatly ease the passage
of water downhill towards the Old Dam, so reducing the flooding nuisance to
properties on both sides of the road and the East of the Oldcroft road.
