Andrew Frost, aged nine, was presented with the £25 book
token by Acting Inspector Mark Soderland during a school assembly.
Inspector Soderland, who is currently in charge of
policing in the Forest South Inspector Neighbourhood Area, said: "The
competition was run following an initiative managed by the Courts Service,
during which pupils from Forest Primary Schools took part in a mock trial.
"The schools involved, which totalled 15 in all, were
invited to submit entries to the poster competition and, although the
standard of entries was very high, we thought that Andrew’s poster was
definitely worthy of winning first prize.
"We are always very keen to engage with local schools on
such initiatives and encourage young people to have a positive view of their
local police force. We are consistently impressed with the response such
activities gain from our local schools and their pupils."
Kate Fyffe, Key Stage Two Teaching Assistant at Yorkley
Primary School, said: "We are very proud of Andrew for winning first prize
and pleased to be involved in any initiative which helps our pupils learn
about Citizenship, as well as speaking and listening."
